With the discussion of Food Miles and Global Warming taking center stage we have to ask ourselves just how much does it cost in terms of crude oil–and all its production and consumption implies–for us to eat the foods we enjoy? And is eating locally a viable option or is it just too expensive?
Author Chad Heeter had a great article examining just this topic back in March 2006. Meanwhile, Julie Cummins had these observations about shopping locally in San Francisco. I think it is well worth revisiting this topic in light of the recent press about climate change.
